Christmas in July/Match Girl

Hi, crafting friends, I love this little Match Girl & Christmas saying from Mo's Digital Pencil. I colored this sweet girl and background with alcohol makers and added a bit of snow with a white Gelly roll pen.

This is the sad little story I read about her...

The story goes:  On a freezing New Year's Eve, a poor young girl, frozen, shivering, bareheaded and barefoot, unsuccessfully tries to sell matches in the street. Afraid to go home because her father would beat her for failing to sell any matches and not earning even a single penny, she huddles in the alley between two houses and lights matches, one by one, to warm herself.

In the flame of the matches, she sees a series of comforting visions: a warm iron stove, a lovely roasted goose, and a great glorious Christmas tree. Each vision disappears as its match burns out. In the sky, she sees a shooting star, which her late grandmother had told her meant that someone is on their way to Heaven. In the flame of the next match she sees her late grandmother, the only person that ever treated her with love and kindness. To keep the vision of her grandmother alive as long as possible, the girl lights the entire bundle of matches she had.

When the matches are gone, the girl freezes to death in the cold weather, as her grandmother carries her soul to Heaven. The next morning, passers-by find the girl's body with a smile on her face, and express pity. They do not know about the wonderful visions she had seen or how happy she is with her grandmother in Heaven.

Get Well Bouquet

Hi crafty friends, I made a get-well card to share with you today that I saved after a mishap. (having a lot of those lately)
I colored flowers with markers and was adding liquid pearls when I smudged some on top, to save the card I cut around image and adhered it to a red card panel. I did color & cut two more flowers, adding them to help cover up my bad cut job too.

With Love

Hi crafty friends, sharing a card I did with the 3D Christmas Rose embossing folder from Crafters Companion. I tried something different and colored roses lightly with red & green pencils and then went over it many times with Gelatos.

First rubbing in metallic icing all over embossing, then rubbing in some iced melon. I kept repeating this till I got the effect I was happy with. I added a little iced currant to roses too, rubbing in well. Iced pear was put on the leaves.

If you're not familiar with Gelatos they are a water-soluble pigment crayon. My set are the metallics Gelatos that give a pretty shimmery finish.

'With Love' sentiment was stamped in red geranium archival ink & heat embossed in clear. Finishing with some sparkly Honey Bee gems.

With Sympathy Sunflower

Hi friends, sharing my first ever sympathy card. I tried to keep it soft and calming. It was a hard card to make really. I thought about changing the sentiment to something totally different but decided to just leave it alone.

With that said I do love my new Jaunty Sunflower wafer dies from Simon Says Stamp Friend Like You collection.

I layered & offset four sunflowers that were inked with Stampin Ups summer sun & mustard seed distress ink on an oval die.

Sunflowers center is a scrap of pattern paper from my stash. Leaf dies were colored with mowed lawn distress ink.

Sentiment stamp from Memory Box was heat embossed with Wow clear embossing powder in fern green ink. Finishing card with a few Honey Bee gems.

Thank you for dropping by your comments are always appreciated!
